This text, The Age of Earthquakes, is unlike most books or novels most readers have read. It was mostly picture based and the text was short, and informal. The text in the book similarly, represented communication through text message or internet based communication. The book was communicating to the reader in order to emphasize how emotionless society has become with one another and creates an interesting perspective on why certain things create an important meaning, such as the app Todd. It is a narcissistic device that helps people control their lives, but really, has the purpose of controlling the entire world through people's interest in themselves and technology. The book creates an uncomforting message about how the 21st century will evolve to similarity and personal characteristic will soon disappear. But, the text gives limited examples and forces the reader to try and relate to these situations given by the book and if they apply to the reader in any way. The book harnesses societies standards and its possible developments that alter the way humans at the moment process and understand data and information from online sources, and displays how there will no longer be boredom as the cellular device will control humans emotions and internet will become the ultimate addiction over sexual intercourse. The book also creates new words that describe how technology impacts a human’s thoughts and actions, but one word can have a different meaning if the combination is switched, this is an example of the emotion lost from the advancement of technology and when technology isn't present, it leads to loneliness and therefore, emotion can be created through its absence but not presence.
