The Age of Earthquakes: No One is Original

Throughout the text, “The Age of Earthquakes” there are many ideas and motifs that occur as well as many things that are thought provoking for the audience about our current society and the new social norms. I noticed that throughout the text there was a loss of the self image, it talked about how there is someone out there who is exactly like you and also talked about human clones. In this sense it begins to make you as a reader feel less original and unique and more like just another person.  Another prominent feature of the text was the use of images in order to make it feel like the internet. On the internet there is an infinite amount of information and pictures and the authors utilize this in the text. They put relevant images with the text. There were parts of the text that were somewhat confusing including the words that were defined throughout. They seemed almost irrelevant to the text but then were talked about in the next pages. It is hard to understand why the authors would use this technique in the text.  I appreciated the large use of images in the text because I believe it brought more truth to what it was trying to portray. I also enjoyed the use of different text sizes, fonts, and boldness. This just added even more emphasis into what the authors wanted to get across and it seemed as though the bolded text were descriptions of something online a majority of the time.
